Jules Verne
Jules Verne (Nantes, 8 de febrero de 1828-Amiens, 24 de marzo de 1905) fue un escritor, poeta y dramaturgo francés, célebre por sus novelas de aventuras y por su profunda influencia en el género literario de la ciencia ficción. Es autor de obras icónicas como Veinte mil leguas de viaje submarino y La vuelta al mundo en ochenta días.

This sequel to "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" doesn't advertise itself as such. Most of the book concerns the efforts of a group of hot-air balloon castaways in the south Pacific ocean attempting to use modern knowledge in order to survive in near-desert-island conditions. "Robinson Crusoe" started a trend of survival tales that lasts in some respects to this day and "Island" is Verne's contribution to that body of work. In my estimate, no film so far has done this book justice.
